Nomadic State of Mind sandals – review

Got my first pair this summer and what a pair they are.

They feel like wearing a pair of comfy slippers, which makes you feel at home – everywhere. Not exaggerating.

Pros:

  • they feel natural, a very good feeling
  • breezy and light
  • one would think the soles of the feet breathe in those rubber flip flops. They’re flip flops, how more open can shoes get? When wearing these, one only realises what it actually feels like when soles do breathe
  • massage your feet as you go
  • can wear them with almost everything (an evening gown may be exluded, but other than that, the options are limitless)
  • fair trade
  • hand made
  • many color and design options
  • the look itself; they look amazing on their own and while wearing them
  • they fit well on all sizes, no matter how wide or narrow your feet are – we tested
  • no packaging, they are sent to you in a paper envelope

Packaging – a simple paper envelope, no plastic

Cons:

  • not 100 % recycled. On their site it says the material is partly reclaimed polypropylene cord. It doesn’t say what kind of percentage of recycled material is used. First of all, they should be transparent about this information and second, this material could be 100 % recycled. Once they go there, I will buy another pair or two, absolutely
  • price. But they are fair trade and also worth it
  • the sizes may be a bit small, buy 1 size up, specially if you’re between sizes
  • slippery on any smooth flat surface, so specially indoors (wore them to work once, had to save myself from falling a few times), but this can easily be used a fun sliding tool once you get used to it! 😀

Update: after wearing them for 2 years, the sandals served their purpose well. Will continue wearing them. I washed them twice so far, in a bucket, once using baking soda, second time using a mild laundry detergent, just to see if there would be any difference – there wasn’t, both were as effective. The only drawback would be the drying. They need at least 2 whole days, or even 3, to dry completely. I dried them outside on very hot and dry days and still so much time was needed. Is there anything else I could have done?

What is your experience wearing Nomadic State of Mind? Please share any pros and cons, we need to know! 🙂
