Fuzz remover review: Ruhhy 19162

Also known as debobblers. Firstly it’s not necessary to buy yet another device that might prove useless. It took me a long time to buy one of these. After doing some research on clothing maintenance, these debobblers came up so often, that I couldn’t overlook the fact that they might be useful.

I did my research and decided to give it a go. There weren’t many reviews to be found, specially on specific devices. I hope this one helps a little.

I ordered this model due to the fact that

  • it is chargeable – doesn’t run on cable or regular batteries,
  • has a light.

Pros:

  • chargeable through USB,
  • doesn’t require frequent charging, about after every 10th use,
  • light,
  • comes with an extra set of razors in case the existing ones lose their sharpness,
  • does the job very well,
  • it works with all kinds of textiles, from wool to cotton and mixtures,
  • much safer and effective for the textiles than a regular hand razor,
  • the price was acceptable (about 15 €),
  • it can significantly prolong the usefulness of clothing items.

Cons:

  • the light isn’t as useful as one would expect – it’s on top, instead of on the bottom where you would actually need it to light up the areas you’re working on,
  • not ergonomic, it could do with a handle of some sort on top, or just a different shape, because this egg shape tends to slip out of the hands,
  • when cleaning, extra cation is needed, as it is too easy to press the “on” button while the blades are exposed and your hand is very close,
  • when removing fuzz from wool sweaters it very quickly gets clogged and the device needs to be cleaned several times during working on one garment for it to work with its full power,
  • yet another device that will inevitably end up in trash, no matter how good and useful it is and how long it works,
  • most importantly and the whole point: it prolongs the usability of garments significantly. Some textiles are just an inconvenient mixture of materials and they fuzz up quickly. While we wouldn’t wear such items in public anymore, in come the fuzz remover and makes the garments wearable again and again.

In conclusion

very content with this device, it even removes the smallest fuzz balls form cotton shirts that one could never remove by hand or with a razor.

I would recommend it, taking the pros and cons into consideration. If you’re looking to buy such device, first see what you need for your yourself, what your preferences are and do your research. You don’t want to end up buying something that will not serve you and will just end up in trash (sooner than it would).

Below there are some more before-after photos.

Happy maintaining of your garments!
