How to always be your true self and have fun wherever you are

This post was inspired by the book How to be Parisian wherever you are.

be yourself, enjoy yourself

I could start with the proverb: Always be yourself, there’s enough of everyone else already. It’s somewhat cliché, but it exists for a reason. It’s so much effort trying to be something or someone we’re really not and it doesn’t get us anywhere. Why waste our time and energy when we could live every action we actually want to do to the fullest? Afraid someone might not like us that way? The answer offers itself – that’s the best way to get to know and meet the right people. Once we accept ourselves and live our lives the way we want to, there is no longer room for the wrong people. This way we make the right and sincere relationships, based on respect, trust and love.

Take a minute to calm down, do nothing, let go and just hear yourself. Right now, what do you really want? A cup of tea/a hug/a properly working car/an adventure in Azores/to be cozy at home doing nothing/to go for a run?

If it’s realizable, you can do it now or as soon as you can. That’s how easy it is to make your wishes come true. You can be your own genie.

There is a funny aphorism in the named book, made me laugh, but there is also a truth to it:

»Always look good: when standing in line at the store in the morning, buying champagne in the middle of the night or even picking the kids up from school. You never know.«

The original sentence in the book uses some other words but this is the way I prefer it to be presented. Anyway, by always making sure you look good, you will consequentially make sure you feel good as well and this way show respect to yourself and to others. We know what follows – when you feel good, you look good. So you create an endless loop of goodness! And a life full of clarity and respect is a powerful, good, successful life.

Woman to woman (no matter what stage in life):

  • Love alone is not enough. You have to work on it. Goes for everyone; family, friends, partners.
  • Age should never be an excuse to go to bed early.
  • Be financially independent. To do whatever you want.
  • If he’s the right one, you won’t ever have to ask yourself who should make what step, everything will go about its right path naturally.
  • Even if you believe we only have this life, that doesn’t mean you should be afraid of wasting it sometimes. 😉

In the book there are also some recipes, board games and party mingling advice. And situations described almost every woman can relate to. It’s the thing we all think happens only to us, where by reading books like this one, makes us realize we’re definitely not alone. Girl power is the best! Even if sometimes very clumsy and awkward – that makes for great fun party stories after a while. So be grateful for all the awkward situations you got yourself into, because you definitely learn something from them. Am I wrong?

Don’t take yourself too seriously. Yes, life is meaningful and it’s important to set and reach goals, to aim high. But it’s all about living it. Be happy in this moment (and the next one, and the one after that…) it’s yours only and you can keep it forever. It gets even better – moments of happiness can be shared endlessly.

Sending you love, BSL
